« Chamade, Trophée pour la Paix économique" is a set of 5 art works created by Maud Louvrier Clerc and given to 5 winners on December 6, 2022 at the Musée de Grenoble, France.

Sponsored by the Economic Peace research Chair of Grenoble Ecole de Management, the 5 trophies reward economic players, businesses or associations, striving for peace through their economic, social and/or environmental activities.

Among the 5 Trophies, 3 are awarded by a jury: one for "Inner Peace", one for "Relational Peace" and one for "Peace with stakeholders and the Ecosystem". The 2 other trophies are awarded by students, on the one hand, " and by the general public, on the other hand. These trophies are awarded to projects that focus on the well-being and fulfillment of people and stakeholders and help put into practice, on a daily basis, the conditions for better living together.

The works are each made of a round drum of a 30 cm diameter with an opaque side (front of the work) and transparent side (back).

Each trophy stands vertically on its edge, where a burgundy and gold shamanic ribbon has been placed. On the opaque side of the drum, a blue watercolor, made with sea salt, micro-algae and representing the ocean, was glued on the skin of the drum.

At the center appears a red heart where is painted in blue the logo of the Economic Peace reserach Chair representing two human figures dancing and embracing. The transparent face reveals fine metallic balls that produce sounds with each movement of the object.

The series was inspired by the proverb "to have the heart beating in one’s chest » (« chamade » in French). The origin of this expression comes from military history. In order to express the wish to surrender or call a truce, a drumbeat was made. The sound of the drum was intended to be heard from a distance by the combatants who then stopped fighting. Used for thousands of years in all regions of the world, the sound of the drum is a symbol of peace.

The artist decided to use a drum whose metal balls imitate the movement of grains of sand by the waves. The sound of the rolling wave surf is indeed recognized for its relaxing virtues, it soothes the human spirit, allowing to find "inner peace". The ocean, which is represented on one side of the drum, highlights the economic strategies known as "blue ocean".  These strategies allow a company to develop in an environment without competition because it consciously chooses to position itself on an untapped market. They thus allow businesses to leave behind the logic of confrontation, encouraging for cooperative relationships.  

The heart that floats within this space underlines the importance of the breath inherent to life and love as an essential ingredient for "peace with stakeholders and the ecosystem". In fortune-telling, the Five of Hearts indicates a happy union. It is a card of high auspiciousness that translates the principles of conciliation that unites us with family members or close friends.

By giving five hearts, one to each winner, the visual artist thus bodes well for future happy connections between them.

Each trophy is both a musical instrument and work of art.

"Chamade, trophy for economic peace" is intended to create a soothing song and celebrate new economic strategies based on peace values.
