«L'omionde» is a paper sculpture in the shape of an onion, made with maps from the IGN, showing roads, natural and historical heritage. The bulb is created by superimposing cards cut into thin vertical strips. From it, long leaves escape.
The title of the work is a poetic fusion of the words onion and world.
Our perception of the world, whether sensory or intellectual, is linked to a territory, to its geography. By depicting the globe as an onion, the artist points to the multiple layers of stories that create the experience of the world. There are as many of them as there are individuals, and each one is unique.
A French expression links the onion to our relationship with the other. “Being on small for someone” means paying attention to him well-being. With L’omionde", the artist evokes the current challenge of our collective history: taking care of our shared territory, the Earth.
