The void is the reconciling element
Nugget (Pépite) is the artist’s first series of sculptures. Made of wood, each nugget is a two-carriage inset. The
carrond is the favorite form of the plastic artist fusion of a half-square and a round symbol of balance, well-being,
harmony. The embedding is done on their side, square or round, where a vacuum is created, the other room can
slip and vice versa. Three combinations are thus possible depending on the choice of the side used to embed the
pieces: round (piece 1)/ round (piece 2), round (piece 1)/ square (piece 2), square (piece 1) – square (piece 2).
With this work, the designer wonders about the following question: how can we combine two balances? The series
explores by the imbrication of two forms of balance, that two beings, two entities...
The Nugget is created from the moment an empty, welcoming space is left, to the other form of embedding and
vice versa, which allows the other to join us. In order to communicate two distinct and balanced entities, it is not
a question of thinking about what needs to be added, but of questioning, respectively, what must be renounced
to allow union. Emptiness is the reconciling element, the one allowing communion.
