poetic and citizen exploration of the Anthropocene

Poetic and citizen exploration of the anthropocene
IWOLRD (JEMONDE) is a poetic and citizen exploration of the anthropocene begun in 2014 by the artist. The
Anthropocene is the name of our geological era characterized by the impact of human activities on the Earth. This
artistic project by Maud Louvrier Clerc is part of the UNESCO programme "Humanities Art & Society". The IWORLD
project aims to promote dialogue and peace.

The performance allows soul portraits to emerge. A IWORLD soul portrait is formed by 4 sentences to complete: I
am + first name… / I live in a world… / My commitment… / A favourite sentence.
Here as an example, the artist’s self-portrait JEMONDE:
I am Maud, a curious and joyful soul. I live in a world of bridges where everything is connected. My commitment:
to allow emergence. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful and committed people can change the world.
That’s always how it happened!” Margaret Mead.

The participatory performance consists of 5 sequences.

Sequence 1/ Maud Louvrier Clerc first summons the poetic breath to bring each participant back to their body and
then verbalizes how life is above all, this back and forth between inside and outside, this exchange between oneself
and the world. Then, through poetry, she draws the audience into an experience that simultaneously mixes the
intimate via her personal history and the collective via the history of the Anthropocene.

Sequence 2/ Handwritten writing of soul portraits by participants. The artist facilitates its emergence by the
awakening of one or more senses (touch, taste, hearing, smell) to disinhibit participants. The artist can continue
the performance if she deems it necessary (her voice becomes whispering support to concentration) and/ or
create or put music to facilitate the process.

Sequence 3/ Reading aloud of the soul portraits written during the previous sequence by the participants. The
artist ensures an active and caring listening of the group. Each participant. e is invited. e to stand to read his
portrait, to speak loudly and slowly while taking the time to savor the words.

Sequence 4/ The performance continues with the digital publication of portraits on jemonde.fr .

Sequence 5/ The performance ends with an exchange around the following questions: what vibrated in me when
I read my JEMONDE portrait aloud to the group, then when I listened to others and finally when I published my
portrait on the site and can be shared on social networks?

Additional sequences, tailor-made according to the partners, can be added.
