Une voie vers toi, 2024. icon

A path to you' is a map of the world on which the artist has drawn a dotted line by piercing the paper.

The representation used is that of Richard Buckminster Fuller. This one differs from traditional maps by the fact that it allows to keep in mind that the globe is a sphere, without high or low.

The line symbolizes migratory flows, whether of human beings, animals, such as birds or whales; maritime routes and air corridors, used for the transport of goods or tourism, the flow of spices, such as pepper, of ginger; the satellite trajectories.

With this work, the idea of displacement imposes itself. The gaze being irresistibly attracted by the movement created by the line. The spectator will follow his path, starting from a fantasized point of origin to his supposed destination in an attempt to understand its meaning by appealing to his knowledge. At this stage, a doubt remains reminding him how important history is. His interpretation is indeed a source of misunderstanding, creator of a potential conflict with another spectator who portrays another perspective on the work and the meaning of this line.

The artist by choosing to trace a single route reinforces the evidence that there are thousands of others, past, present or future, and as diverse as they may be. The line also creates signs of infinity here and there. The artist thus intends to bring the spectator to grasp the countless possible paths to go towards the other, whether human or animal, or to communicate with him.
